The Story Behind Saint Basil Teas
I learned a lot from my family about love, hospitality, and the importance of cultivating a sense of home wherever you are. This overall feeling was shown through food, hot teas, and fun experiences to bring health to our bodies, minds and souls. As far as health goes, my mom kept a goldenseal and echinacea tincture in the fridge and was always interested in the best nutritional drinks to help you feel your best; she made us hot tea with lemon and honey when we were sick or even just as a treat. Throughout the years following, I realized that I had found a common thread between every job I had- hospitality, holistic healing, and a sense of home.
- First, I worked for a local, organic apple farm at our bustling Saturday farmer’s market.
- Then I worked at a high afternoon tea room in my hometown where we pampered (primarily) ladies with an extravagant afternoon tea experience. We even gave them warm scented towels to clean their hands with before the tea trays were presented!
- In college, I became very sick at the age of 19, so I looked to natural and alternative remedies whenever possible to help me heal. Since I had to undergo all kinds of diet changes, one constant that I could always enjoy was hot tea. Naturally, my love of tea grew as I learned about its immense medicinal benefits to ease a variety of symptoms.
- My personal health journey led me to Whole Foods Market, where I worked as the team educator in the whole body/supplement department. This expanded my knowledge of homeopathic medicine, herbal remedies, teas, tinctures, and syrups.
- In 2020, I took my desire to help others work through their health issues to the next level. I became a certified holistic nutritionist. I worked at a wonderful acupuncture and functional medicine office, which gave me so much hands-on experience with clients who were struggling through complex autoimmune issues like I had.
Finally, my husband and I moved to our farm in 2022 where we knew we needed to grow our own food, forage our own medicinal herbs, and heal through the natural remedies. Since I experienced so much personal healing from foraging my own medicinal herbs and trying out new herbal tinctures, I decided that we needed to start selling our teas and tinctures so others could heal too. In 2023, Saint Basil Specialty & Medicinal Teas was born.
